Turntide Technologies has announced the release of its Gen 5 NMC modular battery system, specifically developed to address the increasingly complex regulatory landscape confronting OEMs in the electrification sector. The Gen 5 battery system has been engineered with compliance to European Union battery regulations as a foundational element, enabling manufacturers to accelerate the development and deployment of battery-powered platforms across a range of industries.

The Gen 5 battery system is certified to CE, UN38.3, and ECE-R100.3 standards, ensuring it meets international and European safety and transport requirements. By integrating these compliance measures into the core design, Turntide enables OEMs to reduce the risk of regulatory delays and streamline the certification process for new electric vehicle and equipment programs.

The Gen 5 system uses a modular design, available in both 4.5 kilowatt hour (100 amp hour) and 6.8 kilowatt hour (150 amp hour) configurations. Multiple packs can be connected, supporting up to 18 modules per installation with a maximum of nine in series. This modularity allows for tailored voltage and capacity solutions to meet the specific demands of applications in construction, industrial automation, automated guided vehicles, agriculture, and defense.

The battery offers high gravimetric and volumetric energy density for efficient use of installation space, while its compact, low-profile form factor allows integration into diverse vehicle and equipment architectures. The system is designed for secure mounting in three axes, providing additional flexibility for OEMs during installation.

Turntide has prioritized durability and operational reliability in the Gen 5 battery system. The enclosure uses aluminum construction and carries an IP66 rating, ensuring resistance to dust and water ingress for reliable performance in harsh environments. The battery system is specified for over 3,000 cycles with 85 percent capacity retention, supporting long service life in demanding duty cycles.

A separate battery control unit enhances system flexibility, simplifying installation and ongoing serviceability. This modular approach also facilitates future upgrades and maintenance, minimizing downtime for end users.

The Gen 5 battery system complements Turntide’s existing electrification portfolio, including the AF430S axial flux motor. The AF430S motor delivers high continuous torque and efficiency in a compact package, suitable for a wide range of mobility and industrial applications. Together, these technologies provide OEMs with a comprehensive electrification solution that minimizes the need for extensive vehicle redesign while maintaining high standards of performance and safety.

Turntide’s Gen 5 NMC modular battery system sets a new benchmark for compliance-ready energy storage in OEM electrification projects. By embedding regulatory conformity into its architecture and offering a scalable, robust solution, Turntide supports manufacturers in accelerating the transition to electric powertrains across multiple sectors.
