Powder blenders don’t often steal the spotlight in EV engineering but the ROSS 5 cubic foot Double Cone Tumble Blender Model DCB-5 deserves a close look. Engineers tackling battery materials know the challenge of blending high density powders into uniform mixes. This machine steps up for small to mid scale processing with the toughness to manage dense loads while delivering consistent homogeneity every batch.
A hinged lid seals tight and swings open wide for easy loading cleaning or mid batch additions. The stainless steel type 304 vessel comes jacketed for 50 PSIG heating or cooling to fine tune thermal processes. It spins at 24 rpm via a 3 HP TEFC brake motor with VFD compatibility. Add a 2 HP intensifier bar wielding dual 6 inch chopper blades at 1520 rpm and you get serious deagglomeration for stubborn clumps.
Vacuum ready up to 29.5 inches Hg it pulls solvents during drying without compromising the mix. Product contact surfaces shine with a 240 grit polish for quick wipe downs. The carbon steel frame stands firm on an A profile base with guardrails and pad plates for anchoring. Legs detach to give 40 inches of clearance under the 6 inch Tri Clamp butterfly valve discharge.
Inside the frame an oil lubricated rotary vane vacuum pump connects through a rotary union for seamless operation. A 7 inch colour touchscreen orchestrates everything from VFDs on the blender and intensifier to the pump starter safety interlocks and main disconnect. Battery electrode mixes demand that kind of control to hit performance targets every time.
