MEDATech Engineering, a specialist in electric vehicle drivetrain solutions for heavy mobile equipment, has formalized a strategic alliance with UK-based Electrified Motors to advance drivetrain power options for off-highway machinery manufacturers and operators. The collaboration positions MEDATech as the official systems integrator and distributor for Electrified Motors within North America, with direct integration of the latter’s high-performance electric motors into MEDATech’s modular AltDrive product platform.
AltDrive is designed as a modular and scalable solution for zero-emission and hybrid powertrains, installable across a variety of heavy-duty sectors including mining, oil and gas, and utility power generation. Over the last ten years, MEDATech has configured and delivered more than 100 AltDrive systems for OEM and retrofit applications, with a focus on performance, reliability, and safety in the most demanding environments. The integration of Electrified Motors’ dense and highly efficient electric drive units extends AltDrive’s capacity to deliver performance at the upper end of torque and power density requirements encountered in off-road fleet electrification.
OEMs and end-users in these sectors are increasingly prioritizing solutions that decarbonize operations without compromising productivity or throughput. The input from Electrified Motors allows AltDrive to address these objectives using compact, robust drive systems that optimize coverage for a broad aesthetic of duty cycles and load profiles. Electrified Motors’ technology, centred on advanced materials and electromagnetic designs, offers increased operating efficiency at both high and low load conditions, minimizing system losses and supporting extended duty intervals.
This partnership allows OEMs to simplify drivetrain integration and streamline procurement by sourcing complete powertrain assemblies, including controls and auxiliary systems, directly from MEDATech. The company’s engineering team undertakes complete systems design, integration, and validation, connecting Electrified Motors’ proprietary solutions with vehicle architecture requirements and ensuring end-to-end compatibility. This reduces lead times, simplifies change management for manufacturers transitioning from combustion to electric solutions, and addresses thermal, mechanical, and control integration within the overall vehicle system.
By combining Electrified Motors’ advanced electric power units with MEDATech’s systems-level integration expertise, the collaboration aims to facilitate a wider transition to electric drive systems in industries traditionally dependent on diesel engines. The unified approach seeks to accelerate deployment of robust, efficient, and install-ready powertrains while offering end-users tangible improvements in safety, operating costs, and emissions reduction across off-highway industrial machinery.
