Littelfuse has introduced two new TMR angle sensors, the LF53466 and LF53464, specifically designed to meet the demands of e-mobility applications where precise angle measurement is crucial. These sensors use Tunneling Magnetoresistance technology with a dual Wheatstone bridge configuration and four high-sensitivity sensing elements, providing accurate 0 to 360-degree measurement on both the X and Y axes. This technology offers improved thermal stability and reduced measurement error compared to traditional Hall-effect sensors.

In electric vehicles and off-highway electric platforms such as e-bikes, construction vehicles, and electric agricultural machinery, accurate sensing of steering angle, pedal position, and motor control is essential for safe and efficient operation. The LF53466, housed in a standard TSSOP8 package, delivers an angular error below 0.8 degrees within magnetic fields from 200 to 800 Gauss. It features strong mechanical solder joints and ease of inspection, making it suitable for these applications. The LF53464 comes in a compact LGA8L package for space-constrained designs, delivering even higher accuracy with angle error below 0.6 degrees. It supports rotary encoders, valve, and knob position sensing in smart mobility devices, thanks to its wider airgap capability and compatibility with smaller magnets.

Both sensors excel at thermal drift compensation, ensuring stable performance under fluctuating temperatures—a key requirement for electric vehicle systems operating in harsh conditions. Their wide supply voltage range and differential output enable robust signal integrity and flexible integration across e-mobility platforms.

By combining high precision, thermal resilience, and versatile packaging, these TMR angle sensors expand the options available for advanced position sensing in electric and off-highway vehicles. Littelfuse offers them in tape and reel packaging for high-volume production with samples available globally through authorized distributors. This launch highlights the critical role of precise, reliable sensors in supporting the next generation of electric mobility solutions.
