Folding e-bike integrates with EVs
Lemmo in Germany has developed a folding e-bike that integrates with the systems in a Nio electric car, writes Nick Flaherty.
The design of the Lemmo Zero separates the electronic components, including the battery, motor controller and communications functions, into a detachable unit that Lemmo calls the ‘Smartpac.’ This allows the e-bike to fold up smaller than other designs and fit in the boot of the Nio ET5 and ET5T EV for customers in China.
It connects via the CAN network to the Nio to provide data on battery health. It has a USB-C connection that would also allow for charging of the battery pack from the vehicle.
Lemmo uses a 250 W motor with 40 Nm torque for its e-bikes.
