Electrogenic reveals customer Jaguar E-Type with drop-in EV kit
EV company Electrogenic has revealed the first customer Jaguar E-Type (or XK-E) fitted with one of its plug-and-play, ‘drop-in’ EV conversion kits.
The package, which is available worldwide through Electrogenic’s partner network, is said to be easy to install by a qualified technician and fully reversible. The electric version is also said to be lighter than the original 1960s machine.
The first E-Type to be converted using Electrogenic’s plug-and-play, ‘drop-in’ EV conversion kit. The E43 package, which gives the car 43 kW of OEM-grade batteries for 150-plus miles of range in real-world driving.
With 160 bhp (120 kW) and 460 lb-ft (620 Nm) of instant torque (at the crank), the E-Type can reach 60 mph in under 6 seconds. The kits drive through a single-speed, fixed-ratio transmission
The E-Type kit range also includes larger-capacity E48 and E63 options, which feature 48 kW and 63 kW of batteries, delivering 160 and 200-plus miles of range respectively.
Lightweight componentry keeps extra weight to a minimum. The E43 and E48 variants are both lighter than the standard car, and even in E63 form, Electrogenic says an electrified E-Type weighs no more than a IC-powered example.
The E-Type packages come with Eco, Sport and Traffic profiles, along with energy-recouping regen for the brakes and throttle. The settings can be tailored to an owner’s specific requirements.
The car’s original instruments have been repurposed. The fuel gauge now shows the state of charge, the oil temperature gauge shows charger temperature, engine temperature is now motor temperature, while rpm shows the rpm of the motor with a scale factor of half.
The E-Type kit is compatible with Series 1 to 3 cars, in both coupe and roadster forms. All the kits include rapid CCS charging as standard: a full charge via CCS takes around 50 minutes.
Electrogenic offer EV powertrain conversions for all classic cars and drop-in kits for E-Types, Land Rovers, classic Mini’s, Porsche 911’s and Triumph Stag’s.
