Battery Show Europe 2026 heads to Stuttgart with cost, scale, and execution top of the agenda

The Battery Show Europe returns to Messe Stuttgart from 9–11 June 2026, once again co-located with the Electric & Hybrid Vehicle Technology Expo and the Energy Storage Summit Germany. Last year’s edition drew over 17,000 attendees and 1,100-plus exhibitors from more than 72 countries. The 2026 event is set to match or exceed those numbers, with exhibitors spanning the full value chain – from raw materials and cell manufacturing to pack integration, testing, recycling, and end-of-life management.
The timing feels significant. Europe’s battery sector spent much of 2025 grappling with gigafactory delays, cost pressures from Asian competitors, and shifting regulatory goalposts. The 2026 conference programme reflects that reality head-on, with organisers framing the theme around “moving from ambition to execution.”
Conference programme
Three conference tracks run across all three days, built around the core problems European battery professionals are trying to solve right now. The headline themes include cost competitiveness during gigafactory ramp-up, manufacturing excellence, chemistry readiness for next-generation cells, and solid-state progress beyond the hype cycle.
Compliance sessions will address the EU Battery Regulation’s requirements around digital battery passports, recycled content targets, and carbon footprint declarations — all of which are becoming operationally urgent for companies shipping into European markets.
The programme also pushes beyond passenger EVs for the first time in any significant way, with sessions exploring battery applications in aviation, defence, and marine, recognising that these sectors are now serious demand drivers.
Each morning opens with daily keynotes featuring senior-level panels tackling industrial strategy and policy frameworks before breaking into technical deep-dives on topics like cell manufacturing, safety, recycling, and circular economy approaches. The keynote schedule will include executives from CATL, Mercedes-Benz, Saft, and PowerCo SE, alongside leaders from cathode materials suppliers and industrial automation groups.
Moderated Shop-Talk Breakfasts will again provide structured networking each morning for peer-level discussion across the value chain.
What to expect on the expo floor
The exhibition spans five halls, showcasing everything from electrode coating equipment and formation cycling systems to thermal interface materials, BMS hardware, and battery recycling technology. For engineers evaluating production equipment or materials for active gigafactory builds, the floor offers hands-on access to technologies that would otherwise require factory visits across multiple countries.
New for 2026, themed cafés dedicated to area of interest groups and curated show floor tours have been introduced to help attendees navigate the exhibition more efficiently — a direct response to feedback from the 2025 edition.
The co-located Energy Storage Summit Germany adds a dedicated track focusing on stationary storage markets and grid-scale applications, which are increasingly overlapping with the automotive battery supply chain in both technology and sourcing strategies.
