Molabo will debut a new 48 V serial hybrid propulsion system at METSTRADE 2025, addressing the marine industry’s push toward electrification without the certification overhead and installation complexity of high‑voltage architectures. Created in partnership with Fischer Panda, the system extends range and flexibility for low‑voltage electric drives while keeping installation and service accessible to shipyard crews.

The platform integrates Molabo’s ARIES motor with Fischer Panda’s AGT‑series generators at the DC bus level, combining pure‑electric operation with generator‑assisted cruising for longer‑range vessels and high‑demand applications. Operating entirely at 48 V DC, the system can be installed by existing shipyard personnel without additional certification, and routine service is handled through Fischer Panda’s worldwide network for the gensets while marine electricians can maintain the ARIES drive.

The DC generators, available from 6 to 22 kW, are compatible with HVO biofuel for lower‑carbon operation and reduce the emissions associated with traditional diesel gensets. Developed originally for Team Malizia’s IMOCA yacht, the setup offers a compact, production‑ready hybrid powertrain that scales from dayboats to bluewater cruising applications without requiring OEMs or refit yards to step up to high‑voltage systems.

Molabo will also present a 50 kW jet‑drive developed with Kaiser Bootsmanufaktur, demonstrating how its 48 V architecture supports efficient, lightweight propulsion across vessel types, from small tenders to performance craft, while retaining the platform’s installation and service benefits.
