High-power 19.2 kW liquid-cooled on-board charger advances EV battery charging efficiency

Bel Fuse Inc has introduced the BCF19-700-8, a liquid-cooled on-board charger designed for hybrid and electric vehicles and engineered to address the rising demand for high-voltage battery charging in e-mobility applications. Offering a peak output of 19.2 kW and supporting a voltage range from 450 to 900 VDC, the unit is built for deployment in next-generation vehicle architectures where efficiency, rapid turnaround, and system flexibility are critical. With a full-load efficiency rating of 94%, the charger reduces energy losses, assisting engineers working to optimize both battery lifetime and charging infrastructure costs.
The system accepts single-phase and split-phase AC input between 100 and 277 VAC, enabling direct connection to standard public EV supply equipment and accommodating diverse regional grid requirements. Its protection against over-temperature, output over-voltage, and over-current events supports robust system integration, helping designers to mitigate failures and comply with rigorous fleet operation standards. Certification to SAE J1939 and UL 2202 ensures interoperability with automated diagnostic protocols and compliance within regulated charging installations.
By combining a compact, liquid-cooled form factor with broad compatibility across high-voltage battery packs, the BCF19-700-8 offers vehicle manufacturers and system integrators a versatile platform for rapid charging rollouts. Available from Mouser Electronics and Digikey, the charger is positioned to support engineering teams developing new EV and HEV platforms as well as those upgrading charging infrastructure for expanding electric fleets.
