For example, the Megawatt Charging System (MCS) proposals were approved in June this year, marking a key step towards standards for charging and opening up a key opportunity for automated charging systems for all kinds of trucks. In the automated charging feature on page 56 we report on the technology behind the MCS and the impact it will have on the industry. Developers are also working on the higher voltage and energy demands of commercial vehicles, so on page 44 we explore the innovations in battery packs for large commercial vehicles. The increasing industry focus on commercial vehicles is driving the development of technologies for mainstream designs. New gate driver boards detailed on page 6 offer a smaller size to fit on top of high-voltage power modules, saving space on commercial vehicles and adding safety support in the same footprint. As electrification of large commercial vehicles evolves, so technology innovations continue to drive ways to make their designs more efficient and effective.
